NFA - Myrna Brown International Scholarship.
The National Flute Association (NFA) - Myrna Brown International Scholarship is a scholarship for an underprivileged flutist of an economically challenged country. The scholarship is on a two - year scholarship cycle starting 2006 and will be awarded in even years.
Overview
The maximum amount of the scholarship will be $1500 and due to its status as a scholarship, is non-taxable to the recipient. Additionally, the scholarship recipient is provided a complimentary convention pass and a membership for one year to the NFA.
Requirements
Application requirements are as follows:
1) Brief written proposal (translated into English) stating why attending the convention is desired and the proposed presentation either lecture, performance or as a competition judge.
2) Recording of proposed repertoire to be performed or another example of applicants playing.
3) Statement of need and for the potential for impact upon returning to native country
4) Resume’ or bio
5) Send two copies of the above to:

Application Deadline
Application deadline is November 1st of the year before the convention at which the winner will perform. (November 1, 2007 for the 2008 convention).
Evaluation criteria
Evaluation criteria to be used:
1) Potential for impact in native country
2) Ability to present in lecture or performance format at the NFA convention or to serve as a competition judge.
3) The recipient must be an underprivileged flutist of an economically challenged country.
